Shannon believes in supporting children and their goals through a holistic approach and play based therapy.
Shannon Malone attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies in a 3+2 model program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science, Health Science with a public health concentration and minor of psychology before continuing her education where she obtained a Master of Science, Occupational Therapy. Shannon has completed the National Board Certification of Occupational Therapy and is licensed to work in the states of New Jersey and New York.
Shannon has found her passion working with children and has experience in early intervention, school based therapy and private outpatient pediatrics. She has worked with children ages 2-13, with a variety of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Developmental Delays, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Shannon has expansive knowledge working on fine motor, gross motor, visual motor, self care, sensory integration, and emotional regulation skills.
Since becoming a pediatric occupational therapist, Shannon has focused on creating fun and engaging activities in order for children to reach their goals. She believes in consulting with caregivers and other professionals such as physical therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral staff to provide education for carryover outside of the OT clinic. She can't wait to work with you and your child!
